Intel Chipset Design Issue

Toshiba Will Ship PCs with the New Intel Chipset Soon

On February 7, 2011 Intel announced it had developed a new version of the support chip that will resolve the Intel Chipset design issue announced in late January 2011.

Toshiba will begin selling PC models with the new Intel Chipset in mid March 2011 depending on model availability.

A number of Model Part Numbers, originally affected by the Intel issue, are being re-released with the new Chipset. These units will have Model Names, printed on the computer's box and serial number labels, which have been modified with a lower case x as displayed in the picture below. These units are NOT affected by the previously reported Intel issue.
Product Label

Refer only to the label on the box or the Serial Number label affixed to the bottom of the computer for the Model Name and Part Number. Model names appearing on the palm rest labels may not include the lower case x and are not a reliable reference for the complete model name.

The Model Name and Part Number combinations listed below are the only Toshiba models affected by the previously reported Intel issue and should be returned to the place of purchase for a full refund.

Note 1 Satellite A665-S5185 (only Satellite A665-S5185) models with serial numbers starting in Z0, 1A, and 2A are affected by this issue. Systems with this model name and serial numbers outside of this range are not affected.

Note 2 If you purchased a Satellite A660 from Toshiba Direct, with a Core i7 2630QM quad-core processor, you will be contacted directly by Toshiba.

Toshiba requests you return affected product to the place of purchase for a full refund. You should back up your data and remove any confidential, proprietary or personal information before returning the product.

Toshiba PSK1WU-004004 Review by College Student

I just graduated high school and was happy to see the prices of laptops on Amazon. I ended up choosing this toshiba satellite. So far I am pleased with the features. It handles all the programs that I have tried so far. The only negative thing about this laptop is the battery life. I have found when running simple progams the battery life has a hard time lasting even an hour and a half. I talked to a friend who also bought a toshiba satellite (a different model) and she said the battery life on hers was about the same. It seems like the issue with the battery may be in all satellites.

I don't plan on taking my laptop to all of my classes this fall so this shouldn't be a huge issue. If it does become a problem I will just have to buy an extra battery.

I ordered this computer for my mom who is a school teacher and she loves it. The i3-2310M is very good and so is the overall build quality. Computer did come with some bloatware but they all do today. Cosmetically, the computer is good and the battery lasts a decent time. I chose this computer because it had the new i3 processor and was priced right. Would by again.
